Sam I Am
Written and performed by Sam Martin
Directed by Dan Graham
Sam Martin shares the experiences that helped him learn to embrace his identity as a gay deaf man in the one-person performance piece Sam I Am.
Having grown up in the Western suburbs of Sydney and recently relocating to Melbourne, this deeply personal account explores the defining events of Sam's life that include his journey with hearing aids, learning Auslan, and choosing to come out following the 2017 marriage equality plebiscite.
Directed by Dan Graham, this autobiographical journey will incorporate two Auslan interpreters and live captions at every performance, creating a fully accessible experience as part of Midsumma Festival 2021.
Proudly supported by the Clocktower Centre as part of the online residency program.
