ABOUT THE SHOW

In 2025 Effie (aka Mary Coustas) will be bringing her new hilarious show UpYourselfness to The Clocktower – inviting the audience to tackle hard questions to find a way to define ourselves within humanity’s ongoing identity crisis... the Greek way – with healthy debate.

“The Ancient Greeks have celebrated the art of arguing since the beginning of time. And no I’m not talking about my mismatched dysfunctional ageing Greek parents. I’m talking about The Great Thinkers and Debaters. Yes, I speak of Socrates, Aristotle and me Effie, The Other Greek Philosopher. We know that if there’s one thing we all have in common, it is that we’re all different. And because of that we’re going to have a difference of opinion. It’s time we got some stretch marks on our thinking, people”

Join Effie as she walks us through the political and social landmines of isms – feminism, racism, sexism, wokeism, pronounism and goodlookingism – as we try to make sense of the latest version of human evolution without losing a sense of who we are.

‘Truth is life’s complicated...and so are we. The only thing that can save us is an open mind, self-love, a big set of balls and a sense of humour.’

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PURCHASING TICKETS FOR CHILDREN

For events without an age restriction, parents and any children the age of 18 months and over will require a ticket. Children under the age of 18 months will not require a ticket, but will be required to sit in the lap of a parent or guardian for the full duration of the show. Only one child under 18 months per adult ticket will be permitted. Please note that select events may have an alternative age limit for their babes-in-arms policy, and this will be specified on their event page.

For age-restricted events, attendance is limited to individuals at or above the age specified on the event page.

Please note that children under 15 years can only attend a performance at the Clocktower Centre with an accompanying adult.

Parents will not be able to drop off children and pick them up after, if they are to be unaccompanied during the performance.

Unaccompanied children under 15 years may be refused entry, and tickets cancelled. Cancelled tickets may incur additional fees and the purchaser may not receive a full refund.
