January 26

January 26

Presented by Flemington Theatre Company

Saturday, 2 April at 4pm & 7pm

Sunday, 3 April at 3pm

Risking it all, this feisty original musical comedy involves a Prime Minister in speedos, a Governor General with a conscience, children without vocal cords and a revolution... all on January 26. This witty critique of white politics is irreverent and unsubtle fun for the whole left-wing family.

The Flemington Theatre Company first performed a version of the farcical January 26 in 2016, when questioning the national celebration of the invasion of Australia was edgy. Now that the topic is mainstream, the show has been updated, to keep it funny.

With original musical interjections, the show's political narrative pokes fun at Australian politics and politicians while offering some sobering commentary.

If you are a monarchist, this is not the show for you. But if you enjoy watching good people enthusiastically making fun of politicians, in a short and sharp theatrical extravaganza, this show is the sweet spot.
