Music in May – Blue is the Colour of Love

Music in May – Blue is the Colour of Love

Saturday, 8 May at 7pm

Blue is the Colour of Love will dive into the sea of Blues/Jazz love songs, wringing out the lows and rejoicing in the highs of this evocative music. With hot keys and a powerful voice, The Blues Sisters will present a program of some of the greats of this genre, and indeed of the 20th century as a whole. The show will also premiere a Blues-style work by young female Australian composer, Alisha Redmond.

The Blues Sisters is a duo of opera singer, Piera Dennerstein, and pianist, Pamela Christie, who have 50 years of performance experience between them. Both women are classically trained musicians who frequently take the plunge into other genres of music. Their classical backgrounds enable a novel approach to these genres and add a magical and unique layer to their style.

Piera and Pam have performed together numerous times over the years in opera, concert and recital, as well as live on the radio. 2021 will be their debut as The Blues Sisters and your first opportunity to hear their artistry and technical prowess in this particular, hour-long program.
