Windows to the Soul Puppetry Workshops

Friday, 16 April

What do you see through the window?  Last year, we saw teddy bears and rainbows cheering up our neighbours’ windows.  Through our own windows, we watched seasons change; new flowers pop into colour, and unknown people passing by became familiar faces.

Join Salt and Poppet Theatre for an afternoon of shadow puppetry at the Clocktower Centre’s Children’s Room, celebrating nature, neighbourhoods and nourishment.

For budding illustrators and designers (ages 7 – 9yrs) you will create window illustrations that can be used as shadow screens for your puppet shows.  And then for the makers and puppeteers (ages 8 – 12yrs) you will learn how to make a shadow puppet and how to bring it to life.

Participants’ artwork will then be exhibited on the Clocktower Centre Children’s Room windows across the weekend for all of Moonee Valley to enjoy.  During the day, a colourful landscape of art celebrating nature will shine in the daylight.  And at sunset, shadow puppets celebrating neighbours and nourishment will emerge, revealing the windows to the soul.
